i think in mov encoding he want to specify which encoding  
[http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1425] here are some samples. if the 
plugins to play these files in vlc and mplayer then ok.

i tested with both mplayer and vlc the output is good. mov is ok MPEG-4 
may be good encoding
