A help needed.

I tried upgrading from Hardy Heron to Intrepid Ibex. I wasn't able to do
that normally. So I downloaded an ISO image through BitTorrent and burned it
to a CD-ROM. After that, when I tried to boot from CD, after a short while
of terminal operations, the screen black outs and I must
Cntrl+Alt+Backspace! But if I go the regular root again, CD being placed in
the drive, some error occurs. I have attached the screenshots here. Ist,
they say, only a partial upgrade is possible. when i give partial upgrade,
the second error window appears. What could have gone wrong? Please advice.

Btw, this was my first attempt to install it myself.

Regards,
Sebin
