Dear Sri. Manilal,

Thank you very much  for your quick  response.  I have only a very little
knowledge about scripts and without your timely help I would have been in
the dark unable to install Malayalam fonts in Ubuntu 8.04. The script in the
latter reference (
http://www.zyxware.com/articles/2008/05/13/installing-and-setting-up-malayalam-swanalekha-on-ubuntu-hardy-heron-8-04)
was found to be more useful and the instruction given there,  worked
beautifully well. I am happy that the Malayalam fonts ( especially
transliteration part)  are quite OK in my PC now.
