വിശദീകരണത്തിനു നന്ദി. സംഘാടകര്‍ക്കു പറ്റിയ നോട്ടപ്പിശകാകാം,
യാദൃശ്ചികമായി നമ്മുടെ കമ്യൂണിറ്റീയുടെ പേരുപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ കാരണം.

മുകളില്‍ കൊടുത്ത വിശദീകരണം മതിയായിരുന്നല്ലോ? എന്തിനാണു് SMC യുടെ
ഐഡന്റിറ്റിയായ അതിന്റെ പേരിനെ ലഘൂകരിച്ചു് ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നതു്?
"സ്വതന്ത്ര മലയാളം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടിങ്ങ്" എന്ന വാക്കു് കേരള ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിന്റെ
ഏതെങ്കിലും പരിപാടിയില്‍ ഒരു ഓര്‍ഗനൈഷേഷന്റെ പേരായോ, ഒരു verb എന്ന
രീതിയിലോ ഉപയോഗിച്ചതായി എന്റെ അറിവില്‍ പെട്ടിടത്തോളം ഇല്ല.
ഉണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ ശ്രദ്ധയില്‍ പെടുത്തണമെന്നു് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. ഇതിനെതിരെ
ഞങ്ങള്‍ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചിട്ടുമുണ്ടു്. സര്‍ക്കാറിന്റെ മലയാളം
കമ്പ്യൂട്ടിങ്ങ് പരിപാടിയില്‍ സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയര്‍ ആശയം
പ്രായോഗികമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല. സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയര്‍ എന്ന
ആശയത്തിനു വിരുദ്ധമായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടന്നിട്ടുമുണ്ടു്.(see

"സ്വതന്ത്ര മലയാളം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടിങ്ങ്" എന്ന പേരു് അങ്ങനെ അലക്ഷ്യമായി
ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ പറ്റില്ല എന്നു വ്യക്തമാക്കട്ടെ. അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര തലത്തില്‍
അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതുമായ ഒരു കമ്യൂണിറ്റിയുടെ ഐഡന്റിറ്റി
ആണതു്.  ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയതും സജിവവുമായ ഫ്രീ സോഫ്‌റ്റ് ‌വെയര്‍
കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ പേരും. വിവിധ സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയര്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തന
സംവിധാനങ്ങളിലായി ഇരുപതോളം പാക്കേജുകളുടെ upstream project. നിയമപരമായ
രജിസ്ട്രേഷന്‍ കഴിയാന്‍ കുറച്ചു പേപ്പര്‍ വര്‍ക്കു മാത്രം ബാക്കിയുള്ള
ഒരു ശാസ്ത്ര സാങ്കേതിക സൊസൈറ്റീയും ആണു്.

സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്‌റ്റ്‌വെയര്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുള്ള മലയാളം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടിങ്ങ് എന്ന
ആശയം എങ്ങനെ വേണമെങ്കിലും ഏതു വാക്കുപയോഗിച്ചും ആവാം. പക്ഷേ "സ്വതന്ത്ര
മലയാളം കമ്പ്യുട്ടിങ്ങ്" എന്നതു്  നമ്മുടെ പ്രൊജക്ടിന്റെ മാത്രം പേരാണു്.
ആദ്യമായാണു്  നമ്മുടെ പ്രൊജക്ടിനെ അല്ലാതെ വേറൊന്നിനെ അതുപയോഗിച്ചു്
സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു് കാണുന്നതു്. നിങ്ങള്‍ തന്നെ പറഞ്ഞല്ലോ
യാദൃശിഛികമാണെന്നു്. സംഘാടകരെ ഈ പ്രൊജക്ടിനെ പറ്റി അനില്‍ കുമാര്‍
പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുമെന്നു പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

Yes, I object the use of our community name ""Swathanthra Malayalam
Computing" in places where it does not refer "Swathanthra Malayalam
Computing Project"   (http://smc.org.in)

It is not just 3 words. Its our identity. It represents a big free
software project, it represents the effort of 50+ volunteers over last
5 years.
It is not just to satisfy me, I am just one of the volunteer. It is
just one of the way to respect a free software project.  My request is
to continue using our name as DAKF were doing in past to talk about
our project and just forget this mistake happened in the program
announcement.  The incident happened on September 2010 was also a
mistake by news reporters. Let us not argue on such silly things. Your
explanation was enough on this topic.

Yes, but not by misusing a community's identity out of context.

As I mentioned, we welcome any program on Malayalam computing using
free software and we are ready to collaborate with such programs. I
know that DAKF is conducting many programs on this and we really
appreciate it. I just wanted to tell you that if such programs were
informed to our community we all can work together to make it a
success.  That was the whole purpose of my mail. We have no objection
in talking about our Project  or doing any presentations about our
project.

Let us not bring any unwanted discussion on our project name just for
the purpose of a silly mistake of organizers. We have better things to
do and we can work together.

All the best for the program at Kottayam and let us stop the
discussion on this topic here.
