Hi,
Its an experiment to create a new model when user community prioritize
what features they want and fund it directly even when developers
don't see it as a priority. True power of Free Software, if you can't
code, just hire someone who can code. Though the option was always
there, popularity of sites like pledgebank.com and kickstarter.com
enabled anyone to start these kind of fund raising and it is easy for
people who are interested to contribute to come together. It is much
like our "bucket collection", but expanded to the internet and there
by enabling any one with an internet connection to participate.
Check this out at http://www.pledgebank.com/diasporaopenid
Interesting one of the founders of diapora, Ilya Zhitomirsky is also
supporting this pledge drive. One more thing that makes diaspora
exciting is the ability to talk to developers directly. You can
comment on their status and they comment on your status too!
Diaspora is becoming a truly amazing community.
Thanks
Praveen
PS: I still have some invites left for those who want to try. Also if
any students want to do internships or projects on diaspora, they can
contact me.

You have to keep reminding your government that you don't get your
rights from them; you give them permission to rule, only so long as
they follow the rules: laws and constitution.
