Here is an opportunity for newbie developers to get involved with
Mediawiki development. As mentioned in the below mail, a bug triage
meeting is planned on the wikimedia-dev IRC channel. The focus is on
internationalization bugs, and bugs are classified as simple, hard etc.

Refer the below mail for details.

           client

As Mark Hershberger is busy preparing the MediaWiki 1.18 release,
Niklas and I spent time yesterday to prepare an i18n triage for
Wednesday. The following bugs will be discussed. I would specifically
call for any newbie developers to come to this triage because we have
selected a bunch of relatively easy issues you may be able to help
with to familiarize yourself with the MediaWiki localistion code and
submit a patch for.

Please forward this e-mail to anyone who may be interested.

The triage will have two sections.

== Message documentation and message related coding ==

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16026 --
MediaWiki:Revision-info should accept wikimarkup

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16111 --
MediaWiki:Cascadeprotected and MediaWiki:Cascadedprotectedwarning should
take the same parameters

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16175 -- Clean up the
rendering of messages displayed at the top of the edit window

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17148 -- The warning about
editing a semi-protected page can display an irrelevant edit summary

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17865 -- Mismatched input
syntax for Cite error messages

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28557 -- Message
documentation for Extension:AddMediaWizard needed

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25608 --
MediaWiki:Fundraiserstats-tab-ytd should not contain (USD)

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29357 -- CategoryTree
should have built-in localizable support for pretty Categorytree-member-num

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29927 -- CentralAuth using
wrong Language on Special:MergeAccount

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30729 -- Not all numbers
are localised in AbuseFilter

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29170 -- [[MediaWiki:Enotif
body]] needs GENDER support

== Harder issues and discussion ==

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28428 -- Allow saving pages
with LRM and RLM in titles, showing a warning and requiring a user right

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28411 -- titles of articles
with LTR titles in RTL wikis may be displayed incorrectly in categories
and special pages

Discusion: Should we implement proper i18n support for named message
parameters? Niklas will introduce this topic.

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30182 -- Untranslated
gadget descriptions have incorrect directionality in RTL user languages

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30238 -- Create method to
get directionality of message including the fallback tree

Discussion: Our i18n system loses language information in the process.
Should this be resolved? Niklas will introduce this topic.

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28021 -- Migrate
translation projects at Meta to the Translate extension -- basically this
issue is about getting the extension reviewed before it can be installed.

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15308 -- Review Babel
extension for deployment on Wikimedia Wikis

I hope to see many of you there!

Cheers!
