Friends,

Continuing the GSUB table cleanup and fixes for Meera and Rachana, we now
fixed the Rakar
issue<http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/harfbuzz/2013-March/003005.html>with
Harfbuzz rendering engine. The changes were also tested with Pango.

Listing the recent changes for these fonts:

   1. Update TTF version of Rachana with recent
changes<http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/smc/fonts.git/commit/?id=7cb059e19a58d89d0b76342b3ca07559d77c0ac3>

   5. Meera: Fix Akhn y1xx

   6. More akhand rule fixes for Meera and

   7. Rachana: use Akhn (Akhant) feature consistently for
conjuncts<http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/smc/fonts.git/commit/?id=328d95572398e4f6d3533c5348348ea62ed1c1da>Rajeesh

I am planning to do another round of review of our GSUB tables. Rajeesh
found സ്പ്ല rendering wrong - Both പ and ്ല going below പ and get mixed.
Rajeesh is also experimenting to use mlm2 script features for these fonts.

We need to do the same maintenance for rest of the fonts soon. Currently
they are broken in multiple ways with Harfbuzz. Any volunteers? (GSOC
project idea, but have the danger of being un-necessarily delayed for 6
months)

Since our last release of fonts was in March 2012, it is time to plan for a
new version release. But it would be great if we can get all of our fonts
fixed before that.

One important issue for Ubuntu users- Ubuntu is not updating their indic
fonts package since more than a year. I had reported a bug to update
it<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ttf-indic-fonts/+bug/958345>,
but not successful so far.

Thanks
Santhosh
