[smc-discuss] Can I install LINUX in Micromax Canvas LapBook ? I would like to have a cheap & portable LINUX Machine for programming.

You can try running a GNU/Linux distro in Live mode and see if the hardware
parts are getting detected automatically, or if the drivers are available. I
would suggest Linux Mint Debian Edition.

PS : If you want to see how well it works with completely free software, try
running Trisquel OS in it and see which all devices are detected. And then
please add that information to http://h-node.org so others can find it.
