[smc-discuss] Spelling checker for Fedora/Openoffice/Firefox

നമ്മുടെ സ്പെല്ലിങ്ങ് ചെക്കര്‍ ഫെഡോറ, ഫയര്‍ഫോക്സ് (ഗ്നുലിനക്സിലും വിന്‍ഡോസിലും), ഓപ്പണ്‍ഓഫീസ് 
എന്നിവയില്‍ ഉപയോഗിയ്ക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. ഫയര്‍ഫോക്സിലും , ഓപ്പണ്‍ഓഫീസിലും ചില്ലറ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ 
ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ട്, ഇതൊരു സ്റ്റേബിള്‍ പതിപ്പായി കണക്കാക്കരുത്..
താത്പര്യമുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് ഇതിനെ മുഴുവനാക്കാന്‍ കൂടാം :)

Fedora
=======
Rajeesh has packaged Aspell-ml for Fedora. Fedora users can download it 
from 
http://download.savannah.nongnu.org/releases/smc/Spellchecker/aspell-ml-0.04-1.fc9.i386.rpm

Firefox [Experimental, only for developers]
========
Download the firefox extenstion (.xpi file) from 
http://download.savannah.nongnu.org/releases/smc/Spellchecker/ml-spellingchecker-dictionary.xpi 
  Then open or drag and drop with Firefox.
Done!

In textboxes, like comment field of blogger, if u righclick, you will 
see Malayalam in the Languages menu.

  Current version of Firefox uses myspell as spelling checker. Myspell 
is a very old spelling checker and has lot of problems to handle 
non-english words. For eg, it cannot handle zwj/zwnj used in Malayalam 
and ZWS used in Khmer Language. Hunspell will replace myspell in the 
next versions of Firefox. Hunspell also has many problems and I have 
already reported the bugs. Khmer team also reported the bugs..

Openoffice [Experimental, only for developers]

To install ml dictionary for Openoffice
     download 	 
http://download.savannah.nongnu.org/releases/smc/Spellchecker/ooo-hunspell.tar.bz2 
and extract
     copy ml_IN.dic and ml_IN.aff to /usr/share/myspell/dicts
     copy hunspell-ml to /usr/share/myspell/infos/ooo
     sudo  update-openoffice-dicts
After this you should see malayalam in Spelling check dialogue of OOO
ഓപ്പണ്‍ഓഫീസിലെ വ്യക്തതയാര്‍ന്ന ചിത്രീകരണത്തിന് പ്രവീണ്‍ നേരത്തേ പറഞ്ഞ ICU പാച്ച് വേണം.

As I said before, unless we have affix rules, spelling checker will not 
be complete.  Work in progress :) പണി തുടങ്ങീട്ടേള്ളൂന്ന് സാരം!
