Hi all,
As some of you may know, OLPC is conducting a test pilot near Mumbai[1].
OLPC India's plan is to spread to the other regions of India as well,
and it would be excellent if you could help the project by translating
the software that is bundled with the XO laptop into your own language.

OLPC translation is done via Pootle, a web based translation system
(which also gives you the option of uploading PO files translated
offline).

If you want to start a team for your language, you can

1. Get in touch with me off list mentioning the language team you want
to start and your Pootle username

                                 OR

2. Create a ticket at http://dev.laptop.org (with the component being
localization), mentioning the language team you want to start and your
Pootle username

You can get a Pootle user account by signing up at
https://dev.laptop.org/translate/register.html

A FAQ on the Pootle installation is at
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Pootle/FAQ

If you are wondering on which projects to translate first, I would
suggest that you begin with Packaging[2] and the move on Update 1
Core[3].

Please pass this message along to anyone who might be interested.
Feel free to ask questions and put forward suggestions.

Warm regards,
TIA,
Sayamindu
