[smc-discuss] Plugins for OpenOffice for ASCII to Unicode and reverse conversions

Hello,

Here is an outline for a Free Software conversion request that we
received recently.

a) Create an OpenOffice.org plugin to convert ASCII encoded Microsoft
Word Documents into Unicode automatically on opening the documents in
OpenOffice Writer. This will allow for easy
b) Create an OpenOffice.org plugin to export ASCII encoded text files
from Unicode odt's from OpenOffice. This will allow for
interoperability with others in the office using Pagemaker.

I am going to work on this. I have not worked on anything similar
before. If any of you have, please do share some information or point
me to the right direction.

As usual the work will be released as Free Software
