[smc-discuss] Problem with malayalam font

i have taken the unicode5.1 renewed fonts listed in one of the font
and i could not read the malayalam fonts such as raghu and suruma in
both font viewer and gedit. I could see malayalam fonts in firefox and
also can copy malayalam font to gedit.I have installed the packages
for the language option from system>admin>language option.Still its
not working.
How can i rectify this. Can anybody help me??
