why did you go by Ibus way? there is not need to. KDE can handle multiple
languages locally.

$ setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us,in -variant ,mal

for setting up english and Malayalam inscript keyboard.

$ setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us,in -variant ,mal_lalitha

for setting up english and Malayalam Lalitha keyboard

(I am afraid, Swanalekha is not available.)

or by the GUI way,

System settings > General > Personal > Regional & Language Options >
Keyboard Layout >

Select what ever you want and Apply.
