I think that there is no Malayalam font which uses any smart-font technology
(I might be wrong, but I have not found one).

If we use a technology like SIL
(http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&cat_id=RenderingGraphite)<http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&cat_id=RenderingGraphite>,
won't all problems be solved?
