Software. Don't be surprised if Windows is released as Free Software one

I don't think that day will really come. If not for anything else, they
will have to keep windows' source code a secret just to hide generations of
bugs from being exploited. This[1] is an example of why windows can't (read
wouldn't) go open source. I had some really mild hopes when they announced
windows phone. But turned out its even more restricting than the desktop
and won't even give a decent API to the developers.

But it really excites me to see that windows is slowly but definitely
opening up. Even though there's a lot of evil being associated with
Microsoft especially in LUGs and forums, we can't deny that Microsoft in a
way helped put a PC in every (figuratively) home. Also, Microsoft now
"officially" supports *nix operating systems on their Azure platform.
Finally, scroll down to the end of this[2] article to see a Microsoft loves
linux image! Yes, ages of enmity might just be breaking down. In my
opinion, what the folks at Microsoft should really do first to show this
newfound 'love' is to first prevent windows from wiping out grub and start
detecting a linux installation. Being able to mount ext4 in windows would
be really nice too!
