:) ആകെ കുഴപ്പം തന്നെ . പത്തുവരി കവിത എന്നു നമ്മള്‍ പറയാറില്ലേ ? അതുകൊണ്ട് വരി = row മതി എന്നാണ് എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നത് . "മൂന്നാമത്തെ വരിയില്‍ നാലാമത്തെ അക്ഷരം " എന്നു പറയുന്നതാണോ "മൂന്നാമത്തെ നിരയിലെ നാലാമത്തെ അക്ഷരം" എന്നാണോ 
നമ്മള്‍ക്ക് മനസ്സിലാകാന്‍ എളുപ്പം ?  

We should be doing context sensitive translations instead of going for literal meanings . Here we are not referring to an army 
of people or a collection of arranged objects. We are talking about text. And when we talk about text, നിര is rarely used to 
refer to lines of text. വരി എന്നു തന്നെയാണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുക . "പത്താമത്തെ വരിയില്‍ നാലാമത്തെ അക്ഷരം" feels correct . Using നിര instead of വരി in that sentence feels 
so out ouf place for me. This is what I was talking about when I said sane translations.
