[smc-discuss] Swaram TTS alpha release

Dear All,

We are glad to announce the release of Swaram - a Text to
Speech System in Malayalam, based on the festival engine. You can
download the package from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/swaram/files/swaram-src-0.9.tar.gz/download.
This packages gives Orca screen reader
the additional functionality to read Unicode Malayalam text.

This is an alpha release primarily intended for testing purposes and
bug-fixing. This has been tested with version 1.96 of the festival
speech engine, and is expected to work on GNU/Linux distributions
which uses GNOME as the desktop interface.

Further work on this project is going on at INSIGHT
<insight.kerala.gov.in >, a project of KSITM and SPACE.
