Some mathematicians have been trying to boycott Elsevier publications.

Government funds universities for doing research. Professors, and students
work hard to do research. But in the end publishers of well-known journals
get the exclusive right to publish the report of the study and make it
available only to subscribers who are willing to pay exorbitant prices.
This was acceptable when cost of printing, peer-review, etc was very high.
But with internet, this has to stop.

It's like we put all our money, build diaspora, and then in the end we give
it to a corporate entity who chooses to put a $30 bill for sign up.

The switch to open journals is just like the switch to open software. We
