user interface used to be a problem, I don't think it is a problem now.
There is always an issue of familiarity when trying something new, but
that not bad interface. I have seen many interface ideas I'm familiar
with GNOME being reused by Windows in new versions.

As for advertisements, when there is a commercial interest in Free
Software, they do advertise. Recently Ubuntu started advertisements on
roadsides.

Ubuntu or other Free Software companies don't have so much money like
the proprietary companies do.

I have seen advertisement for SUSE at Bengaluru airport. When more
commercial companies get involved in Free Software (like the recent
announcement by Wipro
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/it-services/Wipro-plans-open-source-team-of-10000/articleshow/44956651.cms),
you'll see more money spent on advertisements.

With proprietary software you get to see only the final product, but
Free Software project you get to see, use and even improve from the
first line it is written. There is a time period for any project to
mature and its sometime very long for Free Software projects, when
people see the initial stages (which they never get to see in
proprietary software) they complain about usability. But those feedbacks
are also part of the Free Software model when people respond to the
feedbacks and build or improve features.

When you don't understand the whole process, you tend to be restless.
You are familiar with only choosing what features are available when you
start using something. You are not ex[posed to the idea that you can
build those features. It is a common fallacy that you need to be
technical savvy or a programmer to get those features you want. With
crowd funding becoming more and more common, it is getting more and more
important that laymen get involved in Free Software.

Quite a lot of marketing and documentation need laymen's language to
succeed. But it is not easy to take responsibility, it is easier to keep
blaming someone or something.

These need collective work and that is where collectives like SMC plays
a big role. It is platform for people to come together, brainstorm and
take things forward.

Its because they look at it as a just user and they don;t realize there
is so much they can do other than programming.

And there is a sad situation when technically savvy people assume they
also have to use only what layman uses.

അതു് തന്നെയാണു് പ്രശ്നം. നമുക്കു് വേണ്ടിയാണു് ഫേസ്‌ബുക്ക് എന്ന തോന്നലില്‍ നിന്നാണു് ഈ ചോദ്യം
തുടങ്ങുന്നതു്. തിരിച്ചു് നമ്മള്‍ ഫേസു‌ബുക്കിനു് വേണ്ടിയാണെന്നാലോചിച്ചു് നോക്കൂ. അങ്ങനെയാകുമ്പോള്‍
സംശയത്തിനൊരു ഇടയുമുണ്ടാവില്ല.

മുകളിലത്തെ വിശദീകരണം കാണൂ. കിട്ടുന്ന സേവനങ്ങള്‍ പരമാവധി ഉപയോഗിച്ചു് മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നാല്‍
പോരെ? മൃഗശാലയിലെ കടുവയ്ക്കു് എന്നു് മാനിറച്ചി വേണമെന്നാശിക്കാന്‍ അവകാശമുണ്ടോ?
പോത്തിറച്ചിയെങ്കിലും കിട്ടുന്നല്ലോ എന്നു് കരുതി സമാധാനിക്കുകയല്ലേ വേണ്ടതു്.

സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയറിനു് ആവശ്യക്കാരുള്ളിടത്തോളം അതു് മരിക്കുകയില്ല. ഡയാസ്പൊറ മരിച്ചെന്നെത്ര
പേര്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചു് നടക്കുന്നു. കൂടുതല്‍ ഫീച്ചറുകളും ഡെവലപ്പേര്‍മാരും ഓരോ ദിവസം കൂടുകയാണു്.
